 To

  • understand the purpose and importance of sickness absence procedures
  • understand legal requirements and best practice in dealing with sickness absence
  • are clear about their role, and the role of Occupational Health, in sickness absence cases
  • understand the procedures to follow in dealing with both short-term and long-term sickness absence
  • understand the need to take appropriate action as soon as matters arise, and to keep HR informed from the outset
  • have an opportunity to share experiences and concerns with colleagues in a safe environment

  • Local policy quiz - policy, processes, support services
  • Roles & Responsibilities: Managers, Staff, HR, Occupational Health
  • Return to Work Meetings

 10.30 – 11.30am

  • Role Play: RTW Meetings
  • Group Work: Internal and External Factors contributing to absence and manager actions/activities to foster attendance and limit unnecessary unplanned absence
