Audience

This workshop is designed for any officer who has regular contact/exposure to councillors but still wants to sharpen their political acumen further.

Duration

2 hours

Delegate rate

Approximately £100 per day per delegate. Charges depend on how many delegates book.

This session is co-facilitated along side an experienced local government councillor to help give the delegates a better understanding of a councillor’s perspective, and is tailored to the unitary context.

By the end of the workshop, delegates will:

  • Explore the importance of the member/officer relationship, gaining an understanding of the councillor’s perspective and learning what to do to make sure the relationship remains a strong and professional one.
  • Gain a better understanding of why the same information may need to be communicated differently depending on the audience.
  • Learn how to exercise sound judgement in politically sensitive situations as well as learning to identify potential political sensitivities before they become issues.
