This workshop is designed for any officer who has limited exposure/contact with councillors and wants to improve their all-round political awareness and acumen. It is tailored to the unitary context.
Duration
5 hours, with breaks including lunch break
Delegate rate
Approximately £100 per day per delegate. Charges depend on how many delegates book.
By the end of the workshop, delegates will:
- Understand the role of the councillor and the responsibilities that a councillor has.
- Better understand how council’s work when it comes to decision making and governance.
- Learn about the different motivations that councillors may have.
- Learn about what makes councillors and officers different, but also appreciate what we both have in common.
- Understand the importance of impartiality and why we can be friendly with councillors, but we must never become friends.
